The Last Ant Standing

There’s still plenty of color remaining here in New England, but the trees, week after week, are becoming barren with only patches of leaves still holding on delicately.  November foliage will end soon. Hibernation for many species will start.  Did you know that ants hibernate?

As time moves forward and the seasons change a sense of solitary space is created. Humans checkout mentally to hibernate. We huddle with our warm blankets and hot chocolate; daylight saving time ends and it gets dark by 5:00 pm. Today the cold wind was teeth chattering brutal–preparing us for what’s to come–winter may creep up sooner than we think.  It’s time for folks to get the wood chopped and stacked…winter snow is just around the corner.
